King Charles is ready to mend the fences with Prince Harry once and for all, but there is one person who could get in the way of that: Meghan Markle!
Perezcious readers know peace talks between the father and son began over the summer amid the king’s battle with cancer. Two aides connected to the Sussexes and one close to Charles met up at a private club in London in July to chat. The talks must have gone without a hitch because, a few months later, Prince Harry had a secret summit with the monarch while in London for the annual WellChild Awards!
All is a clear sign that the two are working towards a reconciliation! However, the work isn’t over yet! According to RadarOnline on Tuesday, while the tension between King Charles and Prince Harry has begun to ease, there are still issues to deal with. The dad wants to plan more peace talks with the Duke of Sussex in the hopes of getting him back into the royal fold. He even wants Prince William involved this time around. Whether Harry’s older brother will agree to hashing it out is a different story! He is pretty unforgiving when it comes to his younger sibling!

And, of course, King Charles hopes that by getting Prince Harry back, he can see his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, whom he hasn’t seen since June 2022. Courtiers say he loves being with William and Princess Catherine’s kids — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — but he is longing to spend more time with Meghan and Harry’s children. Royal expert Hilary Fordwich told RadarOnline:
“King Charles has always called Harry ‘my dear boy.’ He’s always had a soft spot for his son, and he does want to see his grandchildren.”
The problem is security, though. Fordwich added:
“If Harry comes back, he will need security – and the king is definitely being pressured on this issue by Harry.”
The Archewell Philanthropies co-founder lost his previous legal battle over the matter. However, the UK Home Office just ordered a security risk assessment to determine if he should have government-funded protection on demand reinstated for him, Meghan, and their two children.
And because King Charles wants to spend more time with Harry — and see his sons reconnect — he is reportedly quietly pushing the powers over at the UK Home Office to reconsider. Fordwich noted he cannot publicly lobby politicians on any policy decisions like security rulings, but that doesn’t mean he won’t talk to them about the issue:
“He is not allowed to formally intervene. Now, does it mean that he’s had some words and leaned on people? Perhaps. I think this is the only way to pave a way for his family to be brought back to the U.K.”
Then there is Meghan. She also has the power to ruin the fragile truce between Harry and Charles. Fordwich claimed the duke isn’t “happy” with his marriage to the Suits alum:
“The big issue is the condition of Harry’s marriage. There has been whispering in and among courtiers that he’s not really happy.”
On top of that, Harry and Charles are still fighting over Meg. The source explained:
“The king and Harry continue to clash over Meghan. Charles insists that Harry commit to making her return to the fold and follow royal protocol. If Meghan comes back, she’ll no doubt be expected to follow the same rules as Harry.”
However, Fordwich doesn’t think it’ll ever happen! She said:
“I don’t think Meghan will ever be happy in the U.K. She’s a California, high publicity, celebrity-thinking girl. She may be the dealbreaker.”
Oof! Just when you think there could be a chance of peace between the royal family members! We’ll see what happens!
