Katy Perry has been telling her fans to ‘be kind’ in spite of hate
The 41-year-old pop star dealt with any haters on her X account by spreading a message of kindness.
She penned on March 13: “i love you. be kind. always take the high road if you can my kc’s. it’s much lighter here. so excited to share my joy and light with you this summer. i already miss you. x (sic)”
One user replied: “can you at least drag ur haters for once. love light doesn’t always work girl (sic)”
To which Katy responded: “they must already be in a lot of pain to be so unkind. i send them love and hope they can find their peace. (sic)”
Another user had commented underneath Katy’s original post: “The internet can be chaotic, but messages like this make it feel a little brighter.”
And the I Kissed A Girl hitmaker wrote back: “and that’s why we stay in community in the real world so we can remind ourselves through irl moments that people are good. Go hang out with your friends (sic)”
Two days before the post, on March 11, Katy was called out for her response to a fan who said she had to sell her ticket to her show because she was struggling financially.
They wrote: “I so badly don’t wanna be here anymore. I’m not cut out for this world like I cannot afford to live at this rate and I’m so close to selling my Katy ticket.”
Katy wrote back: “But I am looking forward to seeing you.”
Her response didn’t go down well with several users, who branded her “tone-deaf”.
One wrote: “Wow Katy, you’re clearly so out of touch! You just keep living your out-of-touch high life while everyone else is barely able to afford essentials (food, rent, insurance).”
However, some of her KatyCats shot straight to her defence.
One wrote: “you’d be calling her performative the second she helped publicly. you’re just looking for a reason to be mad (sic)”
