It’s not every day someone dips from a top government gig for moral reasons — so when it does happen, you know the story runs deep. With immigration still front and center in national debates, one ICE attorney’s decision to walk away is raising eyebrows and questions about what’s really going down behind the scenes. The move comes amid Donald Trump’s renewed crackdown on immigration, marked by policies that have sparked widespread criticism.

ICE Attorney Resigns As Priorities Change

Adam Boyd, a 33-year-old government attorney, officially resigned from his position at ICE’s legal department last month, citing a shift in the agency’s mission that he just couldn’t stand behind. In a recent interview, Boyd claimed ICE has pivoted from prioritizing national security threats to chasing deportation quotas — fast-tracking removals and arresting migrants in courthouses to inflate stats. According to him, the agency is now more focused on hitting a target of 3,000 arrests a day — a number allegedly set by top officials like, Stephen Miller, and Homeland Security Secretary, Kristi Noem — than ensuring due process.

“We still need good attorneys at ICE. There are drug traffickers and national-security threats and human-rights violators in our country who need to be dealt with. But we are now focusing on numbers over all else,” Boyd said.

Student Loans Got ICE Employees Staying Put?

Boyd claims the pressure to deliver big “numbers” has led to legit cases being tossed aside and due process taking a backseat. Instead of targeting high-level threats, ICE teams are reportedly sweeping up migrants in sensitive spaces like churches and schools, all to meet aggressive daily goals. He admitted that walking away was a “moral decision” he had to make. And the real kicker? He says many of his former colleagues feel the same way, but are staying put until their student loan forgiveness kicks in.

“It became a contest of how many deportations could be reported to [White House Deputy Chief of Staff] Stephen Miller by December,” Boyd revealed.

What’s Going On Trump’s Immigration Policies?

Looks like even Donald Trump is feeling the heat from his own immigration policies. During a recent White House press conference, he admitted that ICE raids are leaving farmers in panic mode — especially since many undocumented workers have been working in the fields for decades. Additionally, protests against ICE have been popping off across the country, with activists demanding an end to mass deportations and aggressive enforcement tactics.

NEW: President Trump says an executive order is potentially coming, allowing some illegal immigrants to stay in the country so farmers don’t run out of workers.

“Our farmers are being hurt badly. They have very good workers.”

And, Trump’s other move on immigration raised eyebrows and offered checks. Back in May, he signed a new executive order launching ‘Project Homecoming,’ a self-deportation program that offers undocumented immigrants a $1,000 “exit bonus” and a free flight to the country of their choice. As previously reported, his goal is to reduce ICE interference altogether… by literally paying folks to pack up and leave.
