More Catherine O’Hara tributes continue to roll in after her death.

At the end of Saturday Night Live’s latest episode last night — hosted by Alexander Skarsgård — the show cut to a beautiful tribute card honoring Catherine before the curtain call. It featured an old photo of the beloved actress with her name in simple, poignant text. Fans and celebs alike were left wiping tears.

And of course, NBC didn’t stop there. SNL’s X (Twitter) feed went for it, too, posting a pic of the tribute card with just her name and a heart emoji — the kind of subtle but meaningful nod that has everyone in their feelings.

So sad.

This is also a particularly big deal because Catherine nearly became an SNL superstar herself, in fact. Believe it or not, the comedy queen was this close to being an official cast member back in 1981.

In a 2024 trip down memory lane, O’Hara revealed that she was actually hired for season six and even showed up — before bailing after just one week. Why? Because her Canadian comedy baby Second City Television was blowing up and needed her back north of the border. She recalled this to People about it:

“Our producer would get a deal with a network, and we’d have a show for a season or two, and then that deal would go away. There’d be a break, then we’d do the show again. I got asked to be on Saturday Night Live, and of course I said yes. Who doesn’t want to do that? [But when SCTV was picked up for another season, O’Hara told SNL] ‘Oh, sorry, I gotta go be with my [comedy] family.’ … Yeah, not cool to take a job and leave it, you know what I mean?”

Still, it’s not like things didn’t work out. O’Hara stayed on SCTV from 1976 to 1984, picked up a Primetime Emmy for writing, and worked alongside comedy royalty like John Candy, Martin Short, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, Andrea Martin, and more.

And don’t worry, SNL fans: Catherine eventually got her victory lap. She hosted the show twice in the early ’90s, first in 1991 with REM and again in 1992 with 10,000 Maniacs.

Rest In Peace…
