Amanda Christine is opening up about her career and her role in HBO’s It: Welcome to Derry in a new interview.
In a conversation with The Movie Blog, the 17-year-old reflected on how her career journey began.
She shared that she always knew hat acting was something that she wanted to do. At the age of three, she declared that she would eventually become a part of #younghollywood. At the age of four, her dreams started to blossom with her first commercial role for “Cabbage Patch Adoptimals”.
Yet, anyone who has pursued a career in the entertainment industry knows that bookings tend to drop and become far and few in between. However, Amanda did not and has not let that deter her.
“There were some low points where I got discouraged…” she told the outlet. She continued, “so definitely always be confident in yourself and keep going.
With that mindset, Amanda has been able to build an outstanding resume of projects, including her most recent one, It: Welcome to Derry.
In the HBO horror series, Amanda portrays Ronnie Grogan, who is a a young Black girl facing prejudice and terror in 1960s Derry, Maine.
“Ronnie was literally me. I could relate to her so much,” she said of her character. Also adding that one of her pivotal scenes in the show stretched her both emotionally and physically. She was covered in slime for hours.
“It was cold. It was gooey. It was just slimy… and I had it on me for a week straight.”
There is one message that this talented Young rising star wants all of her fans to know: “Even though you see me on the screen and you think you’re a fan of me, I’m just like you guys, and we’re equals.”
It: Welcome to Derry is now streaming on HBO.
