The man who broke into Eminem’s house twice was convicted following a jury trial yesterday.

Eminem’s Stalker Found Guilty

On Wednesday (May 7), a jury in Macomb County, Mich., found Matthew Hughes, 32, guilty of first-degree home invasion and aggravated stalking for breaking into Em’s Clinton Township, Mich., home last August, Macomb Daily reports. The verdict was reached following 90 minutes of deliberations after a two-day trial, during which Eminem testified.

Last August, Hughes was spotted on Eminem’s property by his security team. Hughes had entered an unlocked door, stole a bike inside the house and fled when he realized he was spotted. He was arrested four days later, when an Eminem employee saw him at a nearby Walmart. Hughes will be sentenced on June 17. He is facing multiple years in prison.

XXL has reached out to Eminem’s team for comment.

Matthew Hughes’ Previous Eminem Incidents

This is the second time Hughes has been convicted of breaking into Shady’s pad. In 2021, he pleaded guilty to second-degree home invasion for using a brick to break a window to enter the Detroit rapper’s home in 2020. During that incident, Hughes confronted Eminem and threatened to kill him before being subdued by the rapper until the police arrived. Hughes was sentenced to five years of probation and time served.

That wasn’t even the first time Hughes, who police say is a transient, showed Stan-like behavior toward the rap star. In 2019, Hughes was booked for trespassing after he entered two properties looking for Em. One was formerly owned by the rapper.
