Is Ryan Gosling finally joining the MCU? The latest Avengers: Doomsday rumor suggests that the actor may finally pick up the chain as Ghost Rider.
Ryan Gosling has had an interesting relationship with the MCU. The actor has seemingly been circling the franchise ever since his meteoric action movie run starting with Blade Runner 2049. Gosling himself has expressed interest in playing Ghost Rider. However, in recent years the stars seemed to be aligning for him to play the Nova, aka Richard Rider, in the character’s Disney Plus series.
Yet with that project now canned, it seems as though Marvel is going back to the ol’ reliable. A new rumor from MyTimeToShineHello reveals that the studio wants Ryan Gosling to play Ghost Rider in the MCU. In particular, they want the actor to make his debut in Avengers: Doomsday, likely making a big splash in the crossover before leading his own solo films down the line.
Is Ryan Gosling Playing Ghost Rider?
While this rumor is far from confirmed, it’s likely that Ryan Gosling would take on the role of Ghost Rider if Marvel asked. There was a time where it seemed as though Robbie Reyes might be the main Spirit of Vengeance in the MCU. However, given the franchise’s rocky standing leading into Avengers: Doomsday, the studio is likely looking for some box office heavyweights to add some assurance to any project they commit to from now on.
It’s also possible that Ryan Gosling won’t just appear as Ghost Rider in Avengers: Doomsday. While the rumor mill has been awash with misinformation about Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it’s still possible that Ghost Rider plays a role in the film if Mephisto does appear. It’d certainly be a big swing for the MCU’s next project, but that may just be what the studio needs.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
