Set photos of Spider-Man: Brand New Day are finally starting to leak! Along with them, new details reveal where the film sits in the pantheon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It almost seems surreal that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is finally starting production. It’s been a long road to get here, with this MCU film perhaps being the most saturated in fake rumors, leaks, and speculation. Yet, with filming officially set to begin in August, set photos have started to find their way on the net as production teams prepare for cameras to roll.
While the set photos don’t reveal anything too bombastic, there is one key detail that should cause die-hard MCU fans to perk their ears. Construction signage seen on the walls of sets for Spider-Man: Brand New Day reveals that the film takes place in December, 2027. While this may not seem like much to most viewers, it does confirm that the film will be taking place prior to the events of Avengers: Doomsday, which will more than likely take place in 2028 or 2029.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s New Direction
The fact that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is taking place before Avengers: Doomsday is actually a phenomenal sign for the film. There’s been a lot of speculation that the film will be drenched in Multiverse drama, perhaps even adapting the infamous One More Day storyline for the MCU. Though much of that speculation hinged on the fact that it would take place in a universe post-incursion.
As for what the story of Spider-Man: Brand New Day could be, even professionals in this space have absolutely no idea. The prevailing theory is that the film could introduce Mister Negative into the MCU, but there have also been strong signs pointing to both Scorpion and Norman Osborn. Ultimately, fans will have to wait a few more weeks for filming to begin in earnest to get more information.
