Following a six-year hiatus, a rebooted Vans Warped Tour took over Long Beach, California this past weekend for its 30th anniversary celebrations. Drenched with nostalgia for the days of checkered Vans, burnt CDs and extra-wide studded belts, the festival was nothing short of spectacular, bringing more than 168,000 fans to Marina Green Park. Sublime played their latest single, “Ensenada,” to their hometown on Saturday, marking their first song with late frontman Bradley Nowell’s son, Jakob, behind the mic. The All-American Rejects, fresh from their rowdy house party tour, ran through old favorites, new songs, and an Ozzy Osbourne cover. Nova Twins teased their upcoming album, Parasites & Butterflies, with a raucous set at the Left Foot stage. Atlanta pop-punk quartet the Paradox brought out Travis Barker, who drums on their contagious party anthem “Bender.” Having already stopped by Washington, D.C. last month and with the Orlando date ahead, it was a weekend to remember.
