Out of Office: goop Editors’ Summer-Break Buys

Ask a goop staffer what their favorite goop perk is and nine times out of ten you’ll hear “goopcation”: the two weeks in August when everyone logs off of Slack, shuts down their laptops, and spends time recharging, be it on their couch or in a bucket-list location halfway across the world. For our fashion team, shopping for break is almost as delightful as the break itself. Below, five editors weigh in on what their hearts carts are set on.

“I’m headed to Greece for vacation this month, so I’m picking up a few new things to pack. I’m loving this sunflower yellow, which will be so pretty against the bright-white buildings and cerulean water. The trousers will get lots of wear—both overseas and when I return to the office—and the black top is perfect for dinners out with my husband. Gold earrings are classic, and the slides will be great poolside for many summers to come.”

“The best part about summer is spending weekends up in Santa Barbara with friends and family—which, if I’m doing it right, usually involves bopping around Montecito, an Aperol spritz (or two) at the Rosewood Miramar, and the obligatory drop-in at the goop Miramar store. Topping my list of mandatories: stripes, denim, and the kind of chic suit that can slot itself into any of the above scenarios, including lunch at the beach with the in-laws.”

“I’m a minimalist at heart. For me, less really is more, especially during summer. I tend to gravitate toward classic pieces in a cohesive color palette—neutral gal here!—so everything is interchangeable. Also, any nod to the ’90s and I’m in; I’ll be living in this easy slip dress till September.”

“Since I’m spending the next few weeks at my friend’s Hamptons house, I’ve decided I need—okay, want—the goop Sag Harbor tote. I envision schlepping, chicly, all my essentials to Cooper’s Beach: towel, bucket hat, sunscreen, snacks, Kindle, cans of Limonata SPRITZ. As for clothing? I’m thinking a little black bikini, easy tanks to dress up or down, and a cozy cable-knit for boat rides timed perfectly to sunset.”
