Peacemaker season 2’s finale is full of exciting Easter eggs and DCU cameos. Not only do we get even more cameos from Superman, but there are some major ties to the original DC Comics before the eighth and final episode of the season reaches its end.
After the 11th St. Kids return from the Nazi-ruled Earth-X in Peacemaker season 2, episode 7, Rick Flag Sr. is looking to use Chris Smith’s QUC for the government. Meanwhile, Peacemaker and his friends choose to break with ARGUS and build something better. Here are all the cool ties, Easter eggs, Superman cameos, and more in Peacemaker season 2’s finale.
Big Belly Burger
Before “The Boat” incident, Chris and Emilia are shown eating a Big Belly Burger, a classic restaurant from the original comics seen in earlier episodes of Peacemaker, Superman, and in the CW’s Arrowverse.
Leota Outing Waller
Emilia shares her frustration about Leota outing Amanda Waller’s illicit operations on live television, which happened in the finale of Peacemaker season 1.
Looney Tunes
Yosemite Sam and Pepé Le Pew are both referenced in Peacemaker season 2 at different times in the episode, two classic Looney Tunes characters (also owned by Warner Bros.).
Even More LuthorCorp Employees
Following Sydney Happersen’s Peacemaker season 2, episode 7 debut, the finale adds Otis Berg, Amanda McCoy, and Ms. Jessop, all of whom were LuthorCorp employees in James Gunn’s Superman (and are also all existing DC Comics characters).
Imps!
The first door ARGUS manages to go through is a Candyland-type world full of vicious Imps, a callback to the Imp conversation in Peacemaker season 2’s premiere, while also continuing the ongoing trend of Imp references or appearances in every DCU project released thus far.
Running Everything Past Luthor
Flag gets a note from Lex Luthor during their exploration of the QUC, furthere confirming that Rick and Lex are directly working together.
Vigilante’s Videogames
Adrian’s love of video games is referenced twice in Peacemaker season 2”s finale, the first with the recently released Nintendo game Princess Peach: Showtime as well as the classic arcade game Frogger.
Black Hole
One door in the QUC opens right up to a black hole, looking exactly like the one that nearly destroyed Metropolis in James Gunn’s Superman.
Terror Tales
Another door features some absolutely terrifying giant screaming skulls sitting atop spider bodies. Several fans have pointed out this scene from promos for the episode, speculating this to be Gunn’s homage to Terror Tales, a classic pre-Comics Code Authority horror comic series, which featured similar monsters on one of its covers.
Zombies
Yet another door in the QUC opens to a horde of what looks to be Colonial-era zombies. One can only hope for an Elseworlds story one day that adapts the beloved DC superhero-zombie story DCeased by Tom Taylor.
